Yost Home Improvements has been calling Waterford, CT (06385) home since 1961, but our roots run even deeper than that. Owners George and Al Jr., along with their three sisters, grew up in the town of roughly 20,000 and attended Jordan Elementary School, Clark Lane Middle School and Waterford High School. George has continued to be involved in the school system, having served on the Waterford Board of Education for eight years.
From the Great Neck area to Quaker Hill, Waterford is rich in history and things to do. In the summer months, the warm sands and picturesque dunes of Waterford Beach draw sun and sea lovers alike. Just next door to the beach sits the 230-acre Harkness Park. Its 42-room mansion and surrounding gardens make it a popular location for weddings. Also close by is the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, home to several renowned theater-based conferences and the recipient of two Tony® Awards.
Waterford is also known for the Jordan Schoolhouse, the oldest public building still standing and the first documented school in Connecticut. The schoolhouse is believed to date back to 1737 and serves today as a museum.
Other attractions in Waterford include the Waterford Speedbowl, where car lovers can watch races on the 3/8 mile asphalt oval track, as well as the Crystal Mall, a newly-renovated shopping center with 125 stores.
