About The Area
Voluntown is a rurual community in New London County, Connecticut. The town is named after the British volunteers who fought in the 1675 Indian wars.
At one point, Benedict Arnold was a land holder in Voluntown. Arnold is one of the most infamous traitors in U.S. history. During the Revolutionary War, the general originally fought for the American Continental Army but defected to the British Army.
