About The Area
Located in Windham County, Sterling, CT spans 27.3 square miles. The town was incorporated in 1794 and is home to about 3,100 people. It is also where Charles Dow, founder of Dow Jones & Company, was born. The Dorrance Inn — or Samuel Dorrance House — is located in the historical town. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the inn was a stop on French Commander Rochambeau’s route to Yorktown, Virginia in 1781 and return trip in 1782.
